MISSION STATEMENT:
The Mission of Catholic Charities of the diocese of Monterey is to provide specified human services to the poor and disadvantaged, to promote justice, peace, human dignity, self-determination and self-sufficiency in accord with the Gospel and Catholic Social Justice Teachings, and to cooperate with other individuals and groups of goodwill to strengthen our communities.

DESCRIPTION OF MINISTRY:
Catholic Charities of the Monterey Diocese was organized in 1983 for the purpose of helping the poor and the vulnerable who often times do not fit within the usual system.  Currently there are three major programs:

  • Counseling Services: Provides compassionate, skillful, therapeutic counseling to families, married couples, or single individuals in hopes of easing emotional stresses in life.Supportive Services: Help with needs such as eviction, utility shutoff, food, lodging or other critical problems.
    • Family to Family - Promoting Foster Parents for the City of MarinFamily Supportive ServicesChristmas Angels
    • Toys for Tots
  • Immigration & Citizenship: Helps immigrants navigate the cumbersome and complex processes and procedures involved in becoming a naturalized citizen.

DIRECTOR`S MESSAGE:
Catholic Charities of the Monterey Diocese is a valuable part of the lives of the poor. We are often seen as the last resort for families who are not able to access needed counseling, supportive services and immigration and citizenship services. We reach the community of the poor in keeping with our mission to advocate for justice and human dignity.
