California is facing the most challenging economic crisis in
our state’s history. Non-profit organizations and government agencies are experiencing
severe cuts to their budgets. Now, more than ever, they need to demonstrate the
positive impact of their work in our communities. This workshop will
explain how to use the CAP indicators and CAP household survey data in the
areas of Economy, Education, Health, Public Safety, Natural Environment and
Social Environment to tell your story to funders, media and elected officials.
The workshop will include: selecting the best CAP indicators to show your
impact, data interpretation, minimizing jargon, ways to use CAP data in funding
proposals and evaluation, capturing media attention and influencing elected
officials. Researchers from Applied Survey Research and Scott MacDonald
of the Santa Cruz County Probation Department will lead the interactive workshop.
