Success By 6

History

Success By 6 is a nationwide United Way of America community building initiative focusing on improving the lives of children and their families by helping over 300 communities improve systems that affect early childhood development.

In 1998, the Bank of America Foundation partnered with United Way of America and pledged $50 million dollars over five years to support the various projects around the country. Santa Cruz County is benefiting from that pledge.

In 1999 in Santa Cruz County, a leadership committee came together with representatives from business, non-profit, government, health care, education, and other sectors of the community to plan the local initiative. A Strategic Plan was developed.

Vision

Santa Cruz County welcomes every child, empowers families, cultivates community.

Mission

To mobilize all segments of the community to work in partnership so as to ensure that all children enter kindergarten healthy, well adjusted and able to learn.
