2013 - present

Laurie Egan is the Programs Director for the Coastal Watershed Council. Laurie’s passion for connecting communities to nature drives her to ensure that CWC’s youth empowerment, community engagement, habitat enhancement and water quality programs meet their strategic objectives. Laurie leads CWC’s programs, grant writing and communications. 

Born and raised in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, Laurie moved to California to attend Harvey Mudd College where she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Analysis.  While at Harvey Mudd, Laurie engaged her student community as a volunteer coordinator, was an active member of Engineers for a Sustainable World and conducted environmental policy research alongside Dr. Paul Steinberg. In the non-profit arena, Laurie has worked on a state-wide campaign to reduce toxic flame-retardant chemicals and has been featured as a guest blogger for Rootstrikers.org.

Laurie serves on the Board of Directors at United Way of Santa Cruz County, is a former co-chair of the Emerging Leaders Circle of Santa Cruz County and was recognized as 2016 Emerging Leader of the Year. She earned a B.S. in Environmental Analysis from Harvey Mudd College.
