United Way of Santa Cruz County Announces 2022 Emergency Food and Shelter Program Grant Recipients

Santa Cruz, CA (April 21, 2021) – Over $550,000 in Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) grants have been awarded to eight (8) organizations in Santa Cruz County. These grants are federally funded and administered by United Way of Santa Cruz County and a local board made up of representatives from homeless advocates and local nonprofit organizations.

The following organizations have received the grants: Catholic Charities Diocese of Monterey, Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, Community Bridges – Meals on Wheels, Grey Bears, New Life Community Services, Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes, Pajaro Valley Shelter Services, and St. Francis Soup Kitchen.

“As we continue to recover and rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic and CZU Lightning Complex Fires, demand for basic needs and services have drastically increased in Santa Cruz County”, said Keisha Browder, United Way of Santa Cruz County CEO. “Our local EFSP funding have doubled this year to address growing needs generated by these crises”.
